Re: NIM's Stand On The President's New Year Speech

The attention of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), has been drawn to the press statement issued by one political pressure group, National Intervention Movement (NIM), on the New Year Speech by the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
The Institute is reacting to the said press statement because of the backlash it has received from its members, non-members, governments, the corporate world and other stakeholders.
To set the records straight, the Institute wishes to state as follows:
  1. That the press statement did not emanate from the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), which is also popularly known by the acronym, NIM.
  2. That the NIM (National Intervention Movement) is not one and the same with the Nigerian Institute of Management and, therefore, not speaking for, or on behalf of the Institute.
  3. That Mallam Naseer Kura, Head, National Publicity Bureau, NIM Secretariat, Abuja, who signed the said statement is neither a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management nor speaking for, or on behalf of the Institute.
  4. That the content of the said press statement does not reflect the views of the Institute on the New Year speech by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR
  5. That every press statement from the Institute, emanates from either the office of the President and Chairman of Council or the Registrar/Chief Executive, and no other person speaks on behalf of the Institute on issues of national importance, such as the one under reference.
  6. That the Institute has been in constant discussions with the various tiers of Government with the sole aim of supporting them in setting the country on the path to progress and sustainable development.
  7. That the Institute finds it necessary to issue this statement to set the records straight and dissociate itself from the press statement by the National Intervention Movement.
